Gaeun and Jiyool announces official leave from girl group Dal Shabet
After four years since the group’s debut, members Gaeun and Jiyool have announced their official leave from Dal Shabet and Happy Face Entertainment.
The shocking news was broken by Sports Chosun who reports that the withdrawal of the now-former members come in lieu of their contract expiration with Happy Face, leading the girl group numbers to go down from six to four.
Though Dal Shabet has previously undergone a lineup change in the past, Gaeun and Jiyool has been with the group since the beginning in 2011 when they debuted with “Supa Dupa Diva.”
Gaeun is said to be pursuing fashion while Jiyool will be solely focusing on her acting career.
On December 9th, the two former idols have also published handwritten letters to their fans, naturally confirming the news of their withdrawal.
Gaeun writes, “I wanted to finish my final schedules on a pleasant note ahead (of the withdrawal news) but I was unable to. I apologize for suddenly sharing the news,” continuing that she has grown to have a passion for fashion and her plans to pursue it.
In her letter, Jiyool writes that though “Dal Shabet Jiyool” will be no more, she will return as simply “Jiyool,” asking for fans support as she ventures into the acting field.
Despite the loss of two members, Dal Shabet is revealed to be preparing for a comeback early next year as four members with no plans of adding members.
