Netizens Are Confused After BABYMONSTER’s Loss On “M Countdown”

It’s all because of the points.

Netizens have reacted to BABYMONSTER missing out on first place during the recent music show.

On April 18, BABYMONSTER performed their song “Sheesh” on M Countdown, and the members wowed netizens with their talent, visuals, and aura on stage.

Like every week, M Countdown was going to show who won first place, and this week’s episode saw the battle of the rookies as BABYMONSTER and ILLIT faced each other for the trophy.

Before the show even began, the well-known X account KshowAnalysis seemed to predict that the votes were extremely close when it came to the two groups. While ILLIT thrived with the digital, BABYMONSTER was miles ahead in the pre-voting and SNS points when it came to music video views.

Even during the show, BABYMONSTER seemed on track to go far as their live-voting was miles ahead with 92%.

Yet, the tides turned, and ILLIT won with 6676 points compared to BABYMONSTER’s 5371.

When the score was broken down, netizens noticed some differences from the initial predictions, especially with the digital points that saw a huge drop from 2516 to 1676. If the points had remained the same and then added to the other criteria, it would’ve most likely meant BABYMONSTER would get their first win.

Yet, while it’s not unusual for points to change and results to completely be turned on its head, BABYMONSTER fans found it suspicious. One fan pointed out that YG Entertainment usually allows groups to stay, even if they have no chance of winning, but that BABYMONSTER wasn’t present at the end of the show.

Others found it odd that while all the predictions were correct, BABYMONSTER’s digital score dropped by such a significant amount in the final results.

While ILLIT has truly taken over with “Magnetic,” BABYMONSTER fans are just confused about where all the digital points have gone from the final predictions made, which are normally known to be accurate.
