HYBE Bang Si Hyuk’s Past Tweet Resurfaces As Netizens Catch Him In A Lie
One of the things that fans claim makes HYBE‘s founder, Bang Si Hyuk, so great is his “otaku” tastes. Since the past, netizens have bene revering him for his deep expertise in anime, manga, and gaming, which helped him cultivate his professional tastes and sensibilities to create many popular K-Pop groups. These tastes help him to delve into the mindsets behind fandoms, as well as develop aesthetics that appeal to many such niche crowds.
Back in 2011 , he was praised for his deep knowledge of anime and manga, even when they were from before his time. Someone had praised him for knowing the shoujo magazine Wink. Shoujo magazines like Wink published different mangas by chapters. Bang Si Hyuk mentions collecting Jump Tree A+, a manga about high school life.

Netizens who discovered the tweet recently have accused him of lying about his collection in order to appear knowledgeable on the topic. According to facts found online, Wink was first released in August 1993.
Bang Si Hyuk was born in 1972. He would have been in middle school from 1985 to 1988. Bang Si Hyuk would have graduated even high school by the time Wink came out. As such, many netizens are disgruntled by his need to have lied.
- No, but really, I was also a fan of shoujos so I know that there is absolutely no way you can confuse the mangas you were a fan of in middle school vs. the ones when you were in college. Especially if you’re an otaku.

If he’s talking about the year 1986, there’s only about 5 magazines that were available back then. The first shoujo magazine in Korea was Renaissance, and it was created in 1988. After that, it’s High Sense, Daenggi, etc that were released. It was only in the 90s after 1992 that many more shoujos began being released.
