Vogue’s Stray Kids Article Sparks Fiercely Divided Reactions

Many felt it was “messy.”

On May 6, Stray Kids made history with their MET Gala debut as the first entire K-Pop group to attend the event. The members rocked coordinated Tommy Hilfiger outfits as brand ambassadors.

Yet, Stray Kids were disrespected throughout the event, from rude photographers to interviewers. Previously, a Vogue interviewer was called out for downplaying Stray Kids’ popularity.

Now, Vogue is under fire again for an article titled “Everything You Need to Know About Stray Kids, the South Korean Boy Band Selling Out Tours Around the World.”

The article begins by introducing the members but also mentions the former member. Many current STAYs do not acknowledge him after his scandals and departure. So, some felt it was unnecessary and disrespectful to mention.

Stray Kids is composed of eight members: Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. (There was originally a ninth member of the group, Woojin, but he left Stray Kids in 2019 for undisclosed personal reasons.)

Others pointed out that Vogue also misidentified the Stray Kids members in a photo. The writer called Hyunjin Seungmin” and Seungmin Felix.”

A post garnered attention on TikTok. In it, the OP (Original Poster) called out Vogue for its article.

The post went viral with 218.7K views on TikTok at the time of writing. Netizens’ reactions were divided, though. Many felt the article was “messy,” and the writer should have been more informed. Yet, others felt that the issue wasn’t a big deal and that Vogue had no ill intentions.
