K-Pop lightsticks have evolved tremendously over the years. Originally, lightsticks were only able to have one color and were simply used by inserting a battery and pressing the “On” switch.
In the last few years, lightsticks have changed in the best ways: For example, the BTS ARMY bomb is now are able to connect to Bluetooth using an app on your phone where you can manually control the color. There is also concert mode which takes place only at concerts and allows the lightstick to automatically sync with the performance.
However, a new behind-the-scenes video showcases that it may not all be as automated as we imagined! There is a person who manually controls the setting of the arena’s lightsticks at a Stray Kids concert, known as namchibongs.
It is their responsibility to change the color and choose between solid or flashing colors by using a tablet and computer program.
Notice how every time they tap a color to the beat of the song, it switches the entire color of the arena! They also have two namchibongs in front of them, showing the current color selected.
This job requires intense concentration as to not miss an important moment and create an epic experience for fans.
You would never guess that there is someone manually making these magical moments happen behind the scenes!
