An Idol-Like Beauty Goes Viral For Her Unusual Career Change

Her family didn’t approve.

It isn’t uncommon for conventionally attractive people to pursue careers where their looks are front and center. Not everyone, however, who was born with the features of a K-Pop idol or a model is interested in having a glamorous career.

In China, a 26-year-old woman surnamed Zhou has become an internet sensation for her unusual career change. The former literature major’s educational background (a bachelor’s degree) and good looks could have led to a number of career paths–including the office job she quit. After becoming depressed at this job, the South China Morning Post reports that Zhou made a drastic change.

For the past three years, she has worked as a pig farmer for approximately $830 USD per month. It isn’t glamorous work–she handles her fair share of pig placentas and blood–but it has brought her something her office job didn’t: happiness.

Despite not getting support from her family, Zhou doesn’t regret her decision. This life-long animal lover says, “This job is a dream.”
