Former After School Member Jung Ah Nicknames Her Baby After BLACKPINK’s Jennie
Last month, former After School member Jung Ah announced that she was pregnant with her second child.
She announced through her Instagram that it was a daughter. She happily shared, “I am a woman with everything. I’m becoming a mother to a daughter.”
Then, Jung Ah revealed the nickname that she was giving to her baby.
I want to give the baby in my belly the nickname ‘Jennie.’ Yes, that’s right, like Jennie from BLACKPINK.

She followed up by saying that she was a huge fan of the group and hopes Jennie understands.
In South Korea, a trend began in the early 2000s that quickly became an essential part of the culture. Taemyeong, or “birth name,” is a nickname given to a mother’s unborn child or, rather, their “baby bump.” Until the baby is actually born, they are usually called by this name. However, sometimes a family can call the child by either name when they’re born.
Oftentimes the names relate to a certain trait the mother hopes the child will have, a health word, or simply a nice-sounding word that the mother likes. These names are often like Love, Healthy, Strong, Bean, and more.
What do you think of her decision?
