NYU student held captive for six months in North Korea to be released
It has been reported that a student who has been held captive in North Korea since April will be released soon, as revealed by South Korean officials.
The student from New York University called Won-Moon Joo was arrested after he crossed into North Korean territory from China earlier this year. During his semester off from school, he hoped that he would be able to make a statement with his actions. As revealed in an interview from May, he wanted relations between the two regions to improve.
He is expected to be released on Monday afternoon at the border while the South Korean government hopes that the North can also release three other citizens it has detained.
