EXO’s Kai Once Thought That He Would Retire At 29
EXO‘s Kai recently appeared on an episode of Udo Innkeeper, where he had a heart-to-heart talk with his seniors. On the show, he revealed that he once thought he would retire at 29.
Kai shared that he had heard that the lifespan of idols was usually 5 to 7 years. However, EXO would be approaching their 10th anniversary, having debuted in 2012.
Kai shared that up to when he was 20 years old, he had always thought that he would retire around 29. He had debuted when he was around 19 years old in Korea, meaning that this thought was carried around with him up to around 2013, where EXO released XOXO and Overdose. Kai is currently 28 years old in South Korea, so according to that notion, he would’ve expected to retire next year.
While the lifespan of an idol is indeed short, some groups are in it for the long run! Taking a look at their seniors, Girls’ Generation, and Super Junior, it is definitely possible for a group to last way more than 10 years.
Kai has nothing to worry about!
