5 K-Pop Acts With Concepts That Are Influenced By AI
K-Pop concepts are infamous for bringing in new ideas, styling and more, and one such concept that made waves was K-Pop groups with an AI concept! Here are 5 K-Pop acts that are either rooted in or influenced by AI!
1. Aespa
One of the top rising rookie groups, aespa gained attention for their AI-based concept as soon as it was announced! Comprised of members Karina, Giselle, Winter, and Ningning, each member has an assigned “avatar” that lives in a special universe designed by SM Entertainment, called “FLAT”. This is all part of SME’s intricate universe, called SM Culture Universe, or SMCU.
Karina has even said how rather than a 4-member group, aespa is an 8-member group, counting their avatars as members, making their concept even more interesting!
2. AleXa
AleXa debuted as a soloist in 2019, and immediately drew eyes for her incredible AI-based concept! Many of her MVs have a futuristic theme to it, and AleXa has even released a song titled “AI Trooper”, which fits into her AI-influenced musical identity perfectly!
3. K/DA
K/DA is a K-Pop inspired virtual girl group consisting of 4 characters from the popular online game League Of Legends, namely Ahri, Akali, Evelynn and Kai’Sa! While not strictly K-Pop, K/DA has released several singles, of which (G)I-DLE members Soyeon and Miyeon were a part of, where they contributed vocals for the song, and also participated in the choreography video for “More”!
Along with (G)I-DLE, even some TWICE members have released a song as K/DA, namely Jihyo, Nayeon, Sana, and Chaeyoung, titled “I’ll Show You”!
4. Eternity
Back in March 2021, the company Pulse9 announced that they would be debuting a brand-new girl group named Eternity, which would be comprised of 11 members, created using AI technology. They debuted in March with the single “I’m Real”, and gained immediate attention for their unconventional concept in K-Pop.
5. Apoki
Apoki is another virtual identity created by AI technology that has ventured into K-Pop! Originally a virtual influencer, Apoki made its K-Pop debut in February of this year with the single “Get It Out”, and also made their comeback in June with the single “Coming Back”.
