The Staggering Size Of BTS’s Guard Team, Revealed By K-Pop Bodyguards
Together, Jeong Seung Min and Yang Tae Il have worked as bodyguards for a combined 39 years in total. Over the years, they’ve guarded some of the biggest artists in K-Pop, from BTS and SEVENTEEN to TWICE, GFRIEND, WJSN, and MOMOLAND. With all that experience, who better to reveal the secrets of guarding idols—including the staggering size of BTS’s bodyguard team.
When asked which K-Pop act has the biggest bodyguard team in the industry, Jeong Seung Min and Yang Tae Il had an answer immediately: BTS.
Of course, that doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. As the biggest group in K-Pop, BTS likely faces a lot of risks and threats, so their huge events and concerts must need plenty of security. However, what may surprise you is just how large the group’s team is.
According to Jeong Seung Min and Yang Tae Il, BTS has a whopping 150 to 200 bodyguards and security personnel working for them! On top of that, their concert staff numbers reach around 200 employees per event.
While you may think that guarding the stage at a BTS performance would be the most challenging part of the job, Jeong Seung Min revealed that there’s a more difficult task the bodyguards face. Even with so many guards on site, Jeong says the most difficult part of BTS’s security protocol is dealing with the audience outside the venue.
“There are so many [people],” he revealed, adding that BTS’s concert entrances are particularly busy. From merchandise stalls outside to ticket touts who come to sell tickets to fans who missed out, Jeong says the entrance is always “crowded.”
“The more popular [the artist] is,” Jeong went on to say, “The harder it is to deal with other parts rather than guarding the performance itself.” Thankfully for ARMYs and the BTS members themselves, it seems the security team does a great job of keeping everyone safe.
