NCT 127’s Coding Concept Has Fans Revisiting The Time They Were Hacked IRL

Back in February 2020, NCT 127’s official Twitter account suddenly tweeted out this message:
The tweet came from hacker organization OurMine. OurMine has hacked the social media accounts of numerous businesses and public figures, including Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg and the Twitter accounts for Netflix and Marvel. OurMine’s purpose behind hacking accounts is to bring awareness to how easy it is to get hacked, and therefore increase interest in their organization’s cybersecurity offerings.
The hashtag #NCTHack trended online despite many fans hoping to not bring attention to the hacker group.
Some fans even thought the incident was part of a concept since NCT 127 were just a few weeks away from releasing their studio album Neo Zone!
“nct 127: help we’re hacked”
nctzens: haha this is such a fun concept idea”
Luckily, NCT 127 were able to get their Twitter account back quickly with no significant impact on their social media following or their comeback.
NCTzens are revisiting this event after the release of the group’s first teaser for their scheduled September comeback! The concept video and photos show the members as college students who undertake mysterious technological missions at night. Fans are praising the concept for its innovation and saying it may have been inspired by last year’s hacking incident.

so … did sm … just … took the fact that 127 twitter account was actually hacked and made it their new concept? another level of call back

when ourmine hacked the 127 account it was just 127 hacking themselves because they were in a silly goofy mood preparing for this 2021 comeback years in advance

NCT 127 really took every narrative (getting their account hacked, frat boys, etc) and reclaimed them by making it into a whole concept – the ingenuity is just… wow. Kings of PR.
