Simon Pegg Combines BTS And “Squid Game” To Prove He’s The Ultimate Stan
If you were to ask someone about what they knew of Korean media, there are two answers you are likely to hear right now; BTS and Squid Game.
After spending a record-breaking summer atop the Billboard Hot 100 with their songs “Butter” and “Permission To Dance”, BTS attended the UN General Assembly to deliver an impassioned speech about the next generation.
Squid Game has surprised many as the runaway Netflix hit for the fall. The show has achieved both massive critical success and an international following, historically becoming the first K-Drama to rank in the top 10 TV show chart for the United States.
It was only a matter of time before these cultural juggernauts came together, and it appears as if British actor Simon Pegg is just the man to do it.
On September 25, Netflix Korea‘s Instagram account shared a story of Simon Pegg alongside both Squid Game memorabilia and a life-size cutout of BTS’s Jin with the caption,
5 Reasons This Photo Is Impressive
1. Simon’s pulling off the tracksuit look like it’s his daily OOTD
2. Wh… why did he pop the doll head off like that?!
3. The way those gonggi pebbles are hanging on for dear life
4. BTS’s Jin is casually in the background saying hi too
5. Simon Pegg himself sent this to us-Netflix Korea
This isn’t surprising, however, as Simon Pegg has proven his ARMY cred before. Fans first noticed his love for the group when he posted a video of himself listening to “Daechwita” by Agust D (aka Suga).
As for K-Dramas, this love is a bit lesser-known, but Simon Pegg has recently posted to his own Instagram to share his passion for Squid Game.
Like a true ARMY, Simon Pegg responded to Netflix’s post with purple hearts to show his gratitude for them posting it.
We hope this isn’t the last we see Simon Pegg sharing his love for K-Pop and K-Dramas. To see how Simon Pegg celebrated RM‘s birthday, check out the article below:
