ITZY’s Lia And Ryujin Haven’t Thought About Featuring Different Artists On Their Songs, And Here’s Why
ITZY‘s Lia and Ryujin recently revealed that they haven’t thought about having a featured artist on any of their songs — for a very valid reason!
The group recently sat down with Lai Frances at NME to talk about their first full-length album, Crazy In Love, and their experience recording the music and filming the videos. When asked about who’d they like to feature on a track, Ryujin said that she hadn’t thought about it before.
Lai: Have you ever thought about, like, ‘Wow, it would be great if this artist would hop on this track for a remix,’ or something? Have you had that impression yet, or no?
Ryujin: For me, not yet. […] I haven’t thought about it. It would be an honor but I haven’t thought about it.
Yuna on the other hand has thought about collaborating with someone for a remix! Though she didn’t name an exact producer, she shared that she has a vision of a “So Lucky” stage — but EDM version.
Lia elaborated more on why she personally hasn’t thought about featuring an artist on one of their songs; it all comes down to their unique ITZY style!
I think it would be really nice if anyone decided to sing our song; it would be a pleasure. But the reason why I haven’t really thought of it is because […] all of our songs — what I feel, personally — very ‘ITZY’-ish. It’s very ‘ITZY.’ Even for me sometimes it’s really hard to kinda catch that style, so if I just listen to our song with only my part, it doesn’t sound that ‘ITZY.’ But when all of our 5 members add onto the song, it becomes very ‘ITZY’ style.

Because ITZY have such a distinct sound, having a different artist join in on the members’ chemistry hasn’t crossed Lia’s mind! While it’d be amazing to see the group get to work with some other big names, they definitely don’t need any features to have amazing music. As Lai Frances said when Ryujin first said she hasn’t thought about it, “Good! Because ITZY is ITZY.”
