BLACKPINK’s Jennie & Red Velvet’s Seulgi Wore The Same Sweater But Served Different Vibes
Any fan of both BLACKPINK‘s Jennie and Red Velvet‘s Seulgi knows that these two stars have pretty different senses of style. In fact, even when their outfit choices overlap, they still serve their own unique vibes. Just take Jennie’s most recent sweater pick, for example, which was also worn by Seulgi in the past.
The sweater in question is this cropped pullover from Maison Kitsuné which generally retails for around $250 to $350 USD. Designed in a checkboard pattern, the sweater pulls in pastel yellow, blue, and pink shades for a soft and sweet look.
Jennie was seen wearing the sweater today at Incheon Airport in Seoul, getting ready to board a plane to Los Angeles, California.
She paired it with $185 USD straight-leg jeans from Calvin Klein and $80 USD adidas Continental 80 sneakers. As for accessories, she went with a Loquet necklace (for which the pendant and chain cost around $1,000 USD combined) and a $178 USD turtle bag from Nieeh—a brand Jennie is rumored to co-own. To complete the look, Jennie added sunglasses, a pastel pink face mask, and some rings.
Pairing the cropped sweater with low-rise jeans gave Jennie an effortless and casual look that would be just as perfect for a day lounging with friends as it is for an airport trip. Jennie is known for making premium fashion more everyday-wearable, so it’s no surprise she managed to make an outfit worth thousands of dollars look so chill.
With a cute yet chic feel, the sweater itself also calls back to the “high teen” style Jennie is known for popularizing. She gave the piece an even more 00s high schooler feel when she wore it with a $67 USD Elizabeth Moments headband during a July 2020 video call fansign.
Seulgi, meanwhile, wore the sweater in a series of photos posted to Instagram back in May 2020.
She paired it with loose-fitting lilac pants and white sneakers. For accessories, Seulgi pulled her hair into a ponytail with a retro blue scrunchie, and she added a $95 USD mint bun bag from Samo Ondoh to the mix.
Seulgi is known for taking care in mixing and matching different fashion pieces, and that’s clear from this outfit. Her lilac pants, for example, were chosen to bring the pink and blue tones in the sweater together, while the mint bag draws in the yellow too. Even her scrunchie matches the color of her nail polish, with the whole outfit giving off a clear put-together look despite its comfortable silhouette.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Jennie and Seulgi have worn matching outfits. Back in August, the pair wore the same t-shirt within days of each other. Jennie wore it with a flowy white skirt…
… while Seulgi wore it with grey sweatpants and a bucket hat.
