Here Are BTS’s Honest Thoughts About The 2022 GRAMMY Awards
The excitement begins! BTS has officially been entered for a nomination at the 2022 GRAMMY Awards.
Last year, BTS received their first-ever GRAMMY nomination for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.” Unfortunately, “Dynamite” did not take home the prize. This record-breaking song was also entered to be nominated for “Song of the Year”, “Record of the Year”, and “Best Music Video.”
As expected, BTS accepted The Recording Academy‘s decision gracefully, but they haven’t given up on adding a golden gramophone to their trophy case.
Of course you can’t get [a GRAMMY] if you’re not capable enough yet, but the important thing is that the people who like us can be proud of us, too. We did the performance in return for all the support they show us.

In an interview with E NOW‘s Sakshma Srivastav, J-Hope confirmed that winning a GRAMMY is one of BTS’s goals for 2022.
So from here, rather than setting a specific goal, if we keep our work and do our best, I’m sure good things will follow. And also, the GRAMMYs next year is one of our goals, too.
— J-Hope
Leader RM shared his thoughts in a live broadcast earlier this year. Rather than a loss, he sees the “Dynamite” nomination and BTS’s 2021 GRAMMY performance as stepping stones.
I saw a few articles about it being a fall through with the award, but it’s not really a fall through. Honestly, it’s the first time we’ve been nominated. It’s the first time being nominated as a group and holding a solo performance. Let’s think of this in a positive light.
— RM
He also talked about the GRAMMYs during a special KBS talk show, Let’s BTS. RM feels that BTS’s chances of winning have improved, now that The Recording Academy has seen what they are capable of.
We were reaching too far for our first time. At least we got to perform. After all, the Recording Academy votes on who wins a GRAMMY. We got to leave an impression with that stage, so the Academy should know more about us now.
— RM
What will BTS do if they win? In an interview with SiriusXM about last year’s GRAMMYs, some members said that they would like to put the trophy in their homes.
RM playfully said that he would like to duplicate the award to put a copy everywhere!
I want to copy like thousands of copies of them (GRAMMY award) and put them everywhere. In my parents’ house, in my label, rooms, everywhere.
— RM
“Butter” is the first BTS song to be nominated for the 2022 GRAMMY Awards, but it might not be the last. Stay tuned for more updates!
