BLACKPINK’s Jennie Stunned As Gogo Yubari Twice, And Served Completely Different Vibes
BLACKPINK‘s Jennie has made it super clear that she loves the character Gogo Yubari from Kill Bill, and pulls off her concept flawlessly!
Gogo Yubari was portrayed by Chiaki Kuriyama in Quentin Tarantino‘s 2003 film Kill Bill. Gogo is a violent, sadistic 17-year-old associate of O-Ren Ishii (Lucy Liu). Her youthful appearance and schoolgirl uniform helped disarm her enemies. Despite being a secondary character in the film, Gogo is definitely one of the most memorable.
Jennie appeared at Kendall Jenner‘s Halloween party this year dressed as Gogo! Though she has yet to post any clear photos of her in the outfit, fans agree she totally understood the assignment. She even matched with Korean-American musician Deb Never, who came dressed as Elle Driver from Kill Bill.
Jennie stayed true to Gogo Yubari’s schoolgirl uniform and also had the long, black hair to match. While her outfit is a bit edgier than the original from the movie, perhaps Jennie was channeling the edginess of Gogo’s iconic weapon: a meteor hammer!
This same weapon inspired a photoshoot that Jennie did with frequent collaborator Kim Hee June. She swung around a $1,000+ purse from Marine Serre that looks strikingly similar to Gogo’s meteor hammer — though a lot less dangerous.
While Jennie’s outfit still had a youthful silhouette, it was definitely a high fashion take on Gogo’s school uniform! With pearls hanging off her collar, a black veil, and intricate lace details, Jennie took the original concept and gave it her fashion-icon touch.
My favourite “Gogo” inspired look by @kimheejune .
