Comedian Jang Sung Kyu Gets Mistaken As Actor Ryu Kyung Soo In “Hellbound”
Hellbound just dropped on Netflix on November 19, 2021, much to the excitement of many fans. A thrilling tale about how an angel inflicts his angels of death on human beings who have sinned and a pseudo religion cult that tries to dictate these rulings, it soon hit #1 on Netflix worldwide. However, fans of K-Content might have noticed one very familiar face…
Or so it seems. The actor playing the role of Deacon Yuji, Ryu Kyung Soo, looks stunningly like a very familiar comedian and announcer, Jang Sung Kyu. Unfortunately, while Jang Sung Kyu has made a huge name for himself through YouTube variety show Workman…
Ryu Kyung Soo is not as well established yet given that he has not acted in many roles prior to Hellbound. His acting skills are unparalleled however!
Thanks to the misunderstanding from audiences, Jang Sung Kyu himself took to Instagram to clarify things. He had seen comments on multiple portal sites that mistook Ryu Kyung Soo for him.
I’ve received many messages saying they watched “Hellbound” well. It’s not me in this role but actor Ryu Kyung Soo. I’m so sorry to have received the compliments for having acted well. #Hellbound #DeaconYuji #RyuKyungSoo #Iwanttogotoheaven

He also uploaded a screenshot from a portal site that contained praise for his acting.
- “I thought he was a comedian. How amazing.”
- “Rediscovery of Jang Sung Kyu.”
- “Am I the only one who found out Jang Sung Kyu announcer is on Hellbound?”
- “He hit his peak.”
- “I can’t focus.”
While they might not originally look alike…
…thanks to the glasses and hairstyle, they ended up looking like two peas in a pod.
Hopefully with his clarification, all the due credit will go to its rightful owner! Who could’ve blamed audiences though, they do indeed look alike!
