Abloh was the founder and chief executive officer of the Milan-based label Off-White and the Artistic Director of French luxury brand Louis Vuitton. Despite being highly accomplished over the past several years, he was also privately battling a rare yet aggressive form of cancer for over two years.
Now, multiple collaborators, artists, K-Pop idols, and more from over the years who not only knew Abloh as a colleague but also friend are reacting to the tragic news. Many are shocked and mourning right now.
One of the most recent ones to work with Abloh was BTS, as they are Louis Vuitton’s House Ambassadors. After performing in their PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE L.A. concert, they shared a heartfelt message from the members’ shared Twitter account.
RIP Virgil Abloh , you will be missed.
It was an honor to work with you. A true creative genius.— 방탄소년단 (@BTS_twt) November 28, 2021
The group and Abloh shared a positive relationship. He communicated that he felt that BTS were the perfect people to represent his Men’s Fall-Winter 2021 collection for Louis Vuitton as he hoped to deliver an inclusive message.
Seoul has such unique energy and BTS embody this vibe completely. They add their spin to the collection, make it their own and take it to new heights.

Rapper-singer-songwriter CL shared some of her favorite memories with Abloh to her Instagram Stories. In 2015, they had partied together at the OFF-WHITE X Boon The Shop “A New Primary” launch party in Seoul.
She and Abloh had also spent time together at the 2021 Met Gala. They were even spotted leaving the event together.
Singer-songwriter and entrepreneur Eric Nam reposted the official announcement of Virgil Abloh’s passing. He added a heart emoji, paying his respects.
Additionally, DAY6‘s Jae (also known as eaJ) posted on Twitter after hearing the sad news. He spoke true words, saying that Abloh’s “legacy will not be forgotten.” We couldn’t agree more.
