BTS Jimin’s New Tattoo Is Now In HD, And It Has A Hidden Meaning
BTS‘s 3-day concert, PERMISSION TO DANCE ON STAGE – SEOUL, came with many surprises, including a new tattoo (or two).
On Day 1 of the concert (March 10), fans spotted brand new body art on Jimin: a crescent moon on the back of his neck…
…and a difficult-to-decipher word behind his ear. At the time, some ARMY-sleuths speculated that the word could be “Love.”
Now, the secret is finally out! Jimin’s new tattoo says “youth,” which also happens to be the name of an upcoming BTS-inspired K-Drama. Like many of Jimin’s tattoos, “youth” references the coming of age themes in BTS’s work — but that’s not all there is to it!
If you take a closer look at Jimin’s tattoo, it appears to be a perceptual shift ambigram: text designed to be read as two different words. One of those words is “youth,” and the other is…
…”growth.” Both words reflect Jimin’s journey as an artist and an individual over the past nine years of his career.
In addition to “youth/growth” and his crescent moon, Jimin also has a “13” (BTS’s debut date), “Young Forever” (named after BTS’s song, “EPILOGUE: Young Forever”), and “Nevermind.”
Jimin’s “Nevermind” tattoo, believed to have taken inspiration from BTS’s 2015 song “Intro: Never Mind,” began as a temporary tattoo in 2014. By 2019, it was back on Jimin’s ribcage and on the internet as the subject of a “Is it real or not?” debate.
Is Jimin’s latest tattoo real or temporary? Only time will tell!
