5 Idols With The Shortest Trainee Periods

They were all a trainee for less than 5 months.

Most idols train for many, many years before getting to debut. With an average span of one to eight years, they tough it out for their dreams. TWICE‘s Jihyo famously has one of the longest trainee periods ever. She trained for 10 whole years before finally making her debut as part of TWICE. Luckily for her, TWICE hit fame within months of their debut and the rest is history!

On the other hand, a few lucky ones faced just months of training before their debut. This can happen in special circumstances such as the urgent need to fill a position. More often than not, this position ends up being a main vocal. Let’s take a look at 5 idols with the shortest trainee periods.

1. Olivia Hye (LOONA) — One day

To this day, her short trainee period remains a mystery. While Olivia Hye herself shared that she was only a trainee for a day, she did not elaborate as to why. Fans know that she had taken lessons at an academy for a long time before auditioning and being accepted into an agency, so perhaps that expertise shone through!

2. Kyuhyun (Super Junior) — Three months

Kyuhyun was thrust into the group as a late addition. His outstanding vocals allowed him to join the group swiftly but this doesn’t mean he didn’t face hardship in the group! It took a while for the members to open up their hearts to the lovable maknae.

3. Jeong Eunji (Apink) — Two months

Apink was ready to go but they lacked a main vocal. Acube Entertainment hunted for the perfect addition to the group and Eunji got to audition thanks to the vice-president of the vocal school she had been attending.
