The Only 2 Plastic Surgery Procedures You Can Get In North Korea
Sitting down with DIMPLE, North Korean defector-turned-influencer Kang Na Ra answered a few questions that South Koreans wondered about North Koreans. One of those topics was plastic surgery and how there are only two procedures to choose from in North Korea.
South Korean influencer Sang Hee pointed out that there were “good looking women and men in North Korea,” wondering if plastic surgery played a factor in some of them becoming an enhanced version of themselves.
Kang Na Ra confirmed that plastic surgery was available in North Korea but more common for women. She noted, “Women would do that, but cosmetic surgery and procedures for men are not common.”
While at least nine plastic surgeries are popular among South Koreans, North Koreans are limited to only two options. Kang Na Ra answered, “You can get plastic surgery for [your] nose and eyelid, and you can get braces in North Korea.” She also revealed that some of the procedures were safer than others.
When it came to eyelid plastic surgery, Kang Na Ra revealed that the surgeons “don’t have anesthesia” for patients, opting to use numbing cream instead.
Of the two plastic surgery procedures, she revealed which one was the most common among North Korean women. Kang Na Ra admitted, “So there are many women who got a nose job in North Korea.”
If Kang Na Ra had to choose which procedure held the lowest risk, she thought “getting braces [was] the safest” in North Korea. Since plastic surgery is often considered cosmetic, it seems they’ve put more safety precautions in place for braces that fix health issues.
