6 K-Pop Idols Who Will Probably Never Be Seen On Stage Again
There are plenty of K-Pop idols who decided to put a halt to their careers, but the reasons why may vary. Here’s a list of some K-Pop idols who will probably never be seen on stage again, some being due to a tarnished image, and others due to personal decisions.
1. Seungri (Former member of BIGBANG)
In 2019, Seungri got involved in multiple scandals, where he was accused of things like prostitution solicitation. Not only that, but it was alleged that Seungri would arrange for prostitutes to be brought to foreign investors as business favors.
Seungri ended up retiring from the entertainment industry due to this scandal. In 2020, the prosecution filed for an arrest warrant with seven charges, which were prostitution, prostitution solicitation, violation of the Food and Sanitation Act, embezzlement categorized as specific economic crime, workplace embezzlement, violating the foreign transaction act, and habitual gambling. While there have been plenty of retired idols who’ve made comebacks, the severity of this scandal would make it extremely difficult for Seungri to ever stand on stage again.
2. Cha Ju Hyuk (Former member of Co-Ed School)
Cha Ju Hyuk has been involved in multiple scandals throughout this career, where he’s been involved in multiple drug scandals.
Cha took and smoked various types of drugs including psychoactive drugs and marijuana. Considering the fact that he committed the offense numerous times, we suspect that he may be addicted. It does seem like he has made an effort to receive treatment. According to the ruling of the Justice Department, we believe it may be better to keep Cha from having access to any drugs for a certain period of time.
— Detective in charge (September 2017)
Not only has he been involved with drug charges, but he’s also been suspected of driving under the influence, and has been involved in a sexual assault scandal. His image has taken quite the hit due to all these scandals, and it would difficult for him to stand on stage again.
3. Yulhee (Former member of LABOUM)
Yulhee originally debuted as a member of LABOUM in 2014 but left the group in 2017 after her marriage to F.T. ISLAND member Choi Minhwan.
Yulhee has now stepped away from the idol life, as she now wants to focus on being a mother and wife.
4 and 5. Choi Jong Hoon (Former member of F.T Island) & Lee Jonghyun (Former member of CNBLUE)
In 2019, it was revealed that Jung Joon Young had gang-raped many women, took illegal videos and uploaded these videos to a chat room full of other celebrities.
Choi Jong Hoon and Lee Jonghyun were a part of this chat room, and would sometimes join Jung Joon Young in committing these acts. All the celebrities involved in this scandal are extremely disliked in South Korea, and it would be practically impossible for any of them to make a comeback.
6. Hong Yoo Kyung (Former member of Apink)
Hong Yoo Kyung originally debuted as a member of Apink in 2011 but left the group in 2013 to focus on her studies.
Since she departed from Apink, she hasn’t made any public appearances on broadcasts or performed as a singer. It seems that she has no plans of returning to the idol industry any time soon.
