How The Spotify “Top 10 K-Pop Artists” Changed Between This Year And Last
Spotify has just released the “Top 10 K-Pop Artists” list for 2022, including their average monthly listeners and most-streamed song. While some artists remained in the same place in the list since last year, there have also been some dramatic changes for others!
The top four most-streamed artists kept their place this year: BTS at #1, BLACKPINK at #2, TWICE at #3, and Stray Kids at #4.
BTS and BLACKPINK have remained at #1 and #2 respectively for the past five years, and that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon! TWICE has also been in third place for four consecutive years.
Coming into fifth place this year is SEVENTEEN, up from the #7 position last year, and marking their first year making it into the top five of the “Top K-Pop Artists” list!
TXT placed sixth for this year, but they’re actually the only top 10 artist to drop in placement since last year, where they ranked #5.
Meanwhile, fellow fourth gen boy group ENHYPEN leapt up four spots to #7 for 2022, having placed in eleventh last year and entering the top 10 for the first time.
ITZY is another artist that kept the same spot this year as last, placing #8 once again for the second consecutive year.
Jungkook made an impressive debut in ninth place after he was added as a soloist to Spotify in 2022, and is also the only soloist to make the top 10 this year!
Finally, (G)I-DLE also made an astounding leap in their placement since last year, coming in at #10 and up four spots since their 14th position last year. They peaked previously at #10 in 2020, and it’s great to see their resurgence in popularity after their success this year.
2022 also marks the first year since EXO and Red Velvet have left the top 10 list, as well as IU‘s first time not making the top 10 since 2019.
It’s interesting to see how fans’ interests change over the years, and who knows who will be at the top this time next year?
