PENTAGON’s Jinho Unfollows Hui On Instagram, And Fans Don’t Know What To Think
Recently, the list of contestants for Boys Planet — the sequel to the popular survival show Girls Planet 999, which resulted in the formation of Kep1er — was officially released to the public.
While the first episode of the show isn’t set to air until February 2023, a preview was shared on December 29 that showcased each of the contestants on the survival show and revealed some very familiar faces.
Among the contestants are several K-Pop idols that have already been in the industry for years, such as former TO1 members Woonggi and Jerome, UP10TION‘s Xiao and Hwanhee, and, arguably most surprising of all, PENTAGON‘s Hui.
There had been rumors and speculation that Hui would appear on Boys Planet, but that didn’t make it any less shocking to see the senior idol on a show comprised mainly of trainees and idols considerably younger and less experienced than him.
It has left fans wondering what his future with PENTAGON will look like, as well as the future of PENTAGON as a group. Hui has always held an important role as the group’s leader and has helped in the production of many of their songs.
There haven’t been any statements about Hui leaving PENTAGON, and he’s representing their label, Cube Entertainment, while he participates on Boys Planet. But a recent action taken by one of his fellow members has fans concerned about what’s been going on behind the scenes.
Jinho, the oldest member of PENTAGON, had trained with Hui for years even before debuting with the group in 2016, giving them a long history together. It wouldn’t come as any surprise, then, that the two idols followed each other on Instagram after Hui created his account back in November.
And while Hui still follows Jinho on the platform… It seems that Jinho has stopped following Hui in return.
Jinho went from following nine people, including fellow PENTAGON members Hongseok, Yeo One, Wooseok, Yuto, and Kino, to following just eight. Fans easily discovered that he’d unfollowed Hui.
At this time, it’s hard to tell if this was somehow a mistake or an intentional decision on Jinho’s part. The timing seems a bit strange given Hui’s confirmed appearance on Boys Planet, so some fans speculate they might be related.
- “Jinho-yah…ㅜㅜ”
- “I don’t think unfollowing someone is that big of a deal, but only unfollowing one person? ㅋㅋㅋ 100% something happened between them”
- “What is happening…”
- “Hul hul hul hul hul what the? I’ve never heard anything about their team dynamic? Isn’t this way too shocking ???????????”
- “And he’s the leader on top of it… Hmmm…”
- “What the? Did something happen…”
- “The company must release their statement fast”
- “No but I think unfollowing him and the timing it’s really almost like you want to cause a reaction right? You want to clearly send a public message. Despite not liking Mnet, Hui is talented and if he gets the chance to showcase himself and taste success than I hope he does well”
It seems we’ll just have to wait and see whether any other updates are shared on Hui’s future career plans with PENTAGON or otherwise, and the reason why Jinho unfollowed him.
