Super Junior Ryeowook Delays Enlistment to Join Group at South American Tour
SM Entertainment recently announced a change in plans regarding Super Junior Ryeowook‘s enlistment plans which was originally set for June.
On June 9th, the agency revealed that Ryeowook’s enlistment date, originally June 14th, has been postponed but he will still enter the army and enlist in active duty this July.
Citing “sudden variables,” fans have commented that it was most likely due to Super Junior member Kangin‘s latest controversy regarding his drinking and driving that has caused both the agency and the artist to delay the army enlistment. Without Kangin, who is currently taking time away from the public to reflect, only four members of Super Junior would be present at the South American-leg of their Super Camp fan meeting tour.
Excluding Kangin, the current active members of Super Junior are Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Kyuhyun and Ryeowook with members Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Sungmin and Shindong currently serving in the military. Currently, only Ryeowook and Kyuhyun remain to enlist and will do so before the end of the year.
“This is SM Entertainment.
Ryeowook, who was scheduled to enlist in active duty on June 14th, will be postponing his enlistment.
Finishing up his solo album and DJ activities, Ryeowook was focusing on wrapping up Super Junior’s fan meeting overseas while preparing to enlist at the same time. However, due to sudden variables in regards to the management of the team, it was inevitable that he postponed his enlistment in order to keep the promise with fans in South America.
Immediately after completing Super Junior’s overseas schedule, Ryeowook is hoping to enlist and plans to go into active duty and faithfully complete his duties once his enlistment date has been confirmed. Thank you.”
Originally, Super Junior was set to visit Los Angeles and New York City in the United States, Monterrey and Mexico City in Mexico and Santiago in Chile. Unfortunately, the production company Dreammaker Entertainment recently made a confirmation announcement regarding the Super Camp stops on Facebook, implying that the Los Angeles, New York City and Santiago stops have been cancelled.
Members confirmed for the fan meeting in Mexico include Leeteuk, Heechul, Yesung, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun. Super Camp will take place in Monterrey on July 3rd and Mexico City on July 5th.
