Actor Yoo Ah In Is Being Investigated For The Illegal Use Of Propofol

On February 8 (KST), it was reported that Korean actor Yoo Ah In was being investigated for the use of propofol.

In a report from earlier in the afternoon, TV Chosun‘s News 9  reported that a top male movie star in Korea was investigated by the police for habitual use of propofol.

The report explained that the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency summoned and investigated actor Yoo Ah In on February 6 for violating the Narcotic Control Act. In particular, the police shocked Yoo Ah In by banning him from leaving the country.

A statement from the actor’s agency, United Artists Agency, confirmed that Yoo Ah In was being investigated and is participating in all investigations.

Although it is a common type of medicine and not deemed dangerous in many countries, propofol is deemed an illegal substance in Korea.

South Korea classified the drug as a psychotropic medicine, meaning it was illegal to prescribe or consume other than for stipulated treatments that may need anesthesia.
