Aespa Receive Mixed Reactions For Their Clothing And Makeup Choices At The 12th Circle Chart Music Awards
Aespa has always gained attention for the members’ looks and style at huge events. Despite always being cohesive with their outfits, each member has always been able to shine and showcase their own personality.
Recently, netizens have had mixed reactions to the members’ outfits and makeup styles at a recent awards show.
Since debuting, the members have always wowed with stage outfits that perfectly fit the group’s concept and allow them to shine on stage.
On February 18, the members attended the 12th Circle Chart Music Awards.
As expected, the media made sure to take photos of all the members individually. Considering it was aespa, it wasn’t surprising that the members truly shined and showcased their visuals, beauty, and charisma.
Yet, while the members looked beautiful, many shared that the makeup style didn’t suit the group.
In particular, many thought it was trying to fit the “aegyo-sal” look, which is focused on the roll of skin right beneath your eyes that frame the lower eyelids. This small detail to the eye is widely envied by Koreans as it makes one look younger and innocent.
When the pictures were shared, Korean netizens shared their opinions on the makeup style.
While some agreed that some of the members suited the style more, others pointed out that after recent praise for the makeup change, the makeup artist seemingly went away. They believed this was the reason for the “cakey” and “unflattering makeup.”

While Korean netizens were focusing on the members’ makeup, international fans couldn’t hide their opinions about aespa’s outfits. At first, the looks seemed perfect, and each member was dressed perfectly to match their personality.
All of the outfits looked coordinated and featured a “school uniform vibe,” but each member had their own colors and designs to stand out.
Even on stage, the looks perfectly blended in with the performance, making it understandable that some Korean fans thought the makeup was more suited to the stage.
At first, it seems impossible to see any issues with the looks. Yet, netizens noticed that the outfits seemed familiar… and they were. The members wore them in August 2022 at Tokyo’s SMTOWN LIVE 2022 event.
While it isn’t rare for idols to repeat stage outfits, netizens didn’t like the fact that aespa was wearing them at two different events while on the red carpet. On social media, netizens shared their opinions of the outfits and how disappointed they were.

Hilariously, many netizens shared that they didn’t care about the repeating outfits because the members looked gorgeous, and the visuals were enough to make them forget about the repetition seen. Some even joked that it was SM Entertainment promoting their more “Green” approach to K-Pop.

As always, aespa doesn’t need to shine through their outfits and makeup because their performances and natural visuals do the talking for them. While the idea of reusing outfits is always positive, it seems like fans enjoy seeing aespa showcasing something new.
