BIGHIT MUSIC announced in October that the BTS members were “moving forward with plans to fulfill their military service,” and the members would focus on their solo activities in the meantime.
BTS’s J-Hope has stayed busy since the group announced their shift to individual activities during their 9th anniversary FESTA dinner.
In July, he became the first BTS member to release solo music since the announcement, dropping his first full-length album Jack In The Box.
He has since appeared on IU‘s popular variety program, IU’s Palette, collaborated with Crush on his song “Crush Hour,” became the first Korean artist to headline the popular 2022 Lollapalooza music festival, performed solo during Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, supported his fellow members’ activities, and much more.
After announcing the termination of his military enlistment postponement, some investigative ARMYs have been looking for any past clues foreshadowing the announcement.
The detective work led fans to J-Hope’s February 17 birthday Weverse live, where netizens took notice of moments that seemed to hint that the announcement was coming soon.
Netizens noticed J-Hope’s solemn reaction when asked about Suga‘s upcoming solo tour. While he didn’t say anything, his smile spoke volumes to ARMYs.

In a separate moment, J-Hope acknowledged how hard he had been working lately and shared that those who wonder why he would work that much would understand as time passed.
Netizens believed this also foreshadowed the announcement that would come over a week later.
