Former WJSN’s Dawon Makes Public Reference To Her Real Birthday For The First Time Since Leaving The Company
When girl group WJSN (Cosmic Girls) first debuted, their concept was based on the 12 star signs. Due to the concept, the company publicized that each girl had a different star sign. Naturally, the girls’ real birthdays couldn’t cater to this concept, and so, Starship Entertainment lied about a few of the members’ birthdays on their public profiles.
Namely, Xuanyi, Soobin, Luda, and Dawon‘s birthdays were changed. Fans always found this a pity as Dawon and Eunseo had the same birthday. Both were originally born on May 27. Due to the concept, only Eunseo was publicly congratulated on May 27, while Dawon’s birthday was written as April 16 in their profile. Fans found this the most hurting and sad part of the fake birthday concepts.
Now that Dawon has left the company, she made her first public referral to her true birthdate. During an Instagram AMA, a fan asked her if “she likes April 16 or May 27.”
Dawon coolly replied the latter, adding a dancing girl emoji. It seems like she truly is liberated after deciding to step out on her own.
This is not the first time by which a company has tried to base concepts on the members’ profiles. Famously, boy group B1A4 was created based on their blood types. Their concept was to have four members with blood type A, and one with blood type B. To this date, the concept stays true.
