Netizens Name The “Objective” Top 3 Fourth Generation K-Pop Boy Groups
When it comes to the most popular and successful K-Pop groups of the fourth generation, it seems that girl groups, in general, are appealing more to the Korean general public than boy groups. Artists like IVE, NewJeans, LE SSERAFIM, aespa, and more have quickly risen to be big names in the industry, especially when it comes to ranking on digital music charts.
But there are still successful fourth generation boy groups too, especially when it comes to popularity among international K-Pop fans. And recently, a post was made on an online forum that claims to list the “objective” top three fourth gen boy groups.
The first boy group listed on the post is Stray Kids.
One of their achievements that put them in this “top three” list is their ranking at #1 twice on the Billboard 200 chart, which they accomplished with their albums ODDINARY and MAXIDENT. Another accomplishment is that they currently have over 12.5 million subscribers on their YouTube channel.
Finally, they’re ranked at 6th in terms of boy group physical album sales, with about 10.75 million albums sold at this time.
Next on the list is TXT.
They’ve had one album reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, with The Name Chapter: TEMPTATION accomplishing the feat earlier this year. They’ve also surpassed 10.6 million subscribers on YouTube at this time.
Finally, they’re ranked at #4 in terms of boy group physical album sales, with 12.81 million copies sold at this time.
The third K-Pop boy group to be listed on the forum post is ENHYPEN.
They’ve peaked with an album at #6 on the Billboard 200 chart, with their album Manifesto: Day 1 accomplishing it last year. And though they haven’t reached #1 on the chart yet, they hold the record for taking the shortest time of any boy group to have an album make it in the top 10 on that chart.
Lastly, they also hold the record for having an album surpass one million sales in the first week in the shortest period of time after debut.
Comments from people on the post show an array of different opinions on the success of these and other fourth generation boy groups.
Even though girl groups might be taking over the charts these days, boy groups certainly aren’t failing to be successful in other ways!
