(G)I-DLE’s Soyeon Spills On What It’s Like Being “The Top” Trainee In An Entertainment Company
(G)I-DLE continually impress K-Pop fans with their immense talents and bold concepts that challenge societal standards.
Leader Soyeon has been an integral part of (G)I-DLE not only for her incredible production and performance skills…
But even before her debut, Soyeon was making waves as a trainee for her visuals, skills, and, of course, for her astounding performances on both Mnet‘s Produce 101 and Unpretty Rapstar.
And Soyeon had further proven her skill with her solo debut in 2017, before (G)I-DLE’s debut in 2018, which heightened anticipation for her debut in a group.
Recently, Soyeon got her makeup done by LeoJ Makeup, where he asked if she’s often heard that she’s “the top of Cube Entertainment.”
But Soyeon quickly admitted that she wasn’t aware people said that about her.
Still, LeoJ couldn’t believe that Soyeon wouldn’t know, or at least think that she was “better than the others.”
And Soyeon admitted that she has thought in that way, even if she hadn’t heard of herself referred to as “the top.”
But she quickly clarified that she thought that way because of her hard work and success as a trainee, “But [she] didn’t know [she] was famous.”
In fact, rather than hearing praise, as a trainee, Soyeon more often heard that she had “to practice more.”
And while Soyeon admits that it was challenging to be a trainee, fans praise her honesty as a “harsh mentor” on recent survival shows since she’s only encouraging other trainees to do their best to debut.
