“Worse Than Nth Room” 23 Korean Suspects Are Alleged To Have Sexually Exploited 133 Minors, Including Children

Korea is horrified after 23 people are alleged to have produced and shared explicit photos and videos of 133 minors.

On June 9, it was reported that 10 people have been arrested, and 13 more are currently being investigated for sexually exploiting 133 children. Gangwon Police revealed that the suspects’ ages range from teenagers to people in their 30s.

The suspects are alleged to have used social media to approach minors and forced them to send explicit photos and videos. There have been 133 verified victims so far, which is more than the number of victims in the infamous “N Room” incident.

Police revealed that the suspects approached their victims using hashtags such as #elementarystudent and #nudephotos. Once in contact, the suspects would groom their victims through chat.

According to reports, police started investigating after receiving a tip that the suspects were producing pornographic materials and spreading them online. The police are said to have reached out to an IT company overseas and, through cooperation with Korean authorities, performed search and seizures at telecom companies, social media companies, and 74 other locations.

It’s been reporteded that one of the victims attempted to end their own life. Authorities are providing care for the victim’s mental and physical recovery.

The police have also confiscated 18,329 files of explicit materials and banned 1361 social media accounts. A police representative, in a statement, promised measures to prevent another incident like this from occurring and strict punishment for the offenders.
