ATEEZ Opens Up About The Intensity Of Their First World Tour

They shared what it took to find success as a group from a small company.

ATEEZ‘s Yeosang, San, Hongjoong, and Mingi were the most recent guests on Jonathan Thona‘s TheKstarNextDoor, where they opened up about being from a smaller company, their increasing global recognition, and their recent comeback.

As with each episode, Jonathan had the group participate in “K-Profile,” where he asked the members about trending keywords or phrases associated with the group.

One of the phrases was “miracle of [a small] agency,” referring to ATEEZ reaching a level of global success that is less common for K-Pop groups from smaller agencies with fewer resources.

Jonathan referred to ATEEZ as the group that “saved KQ,” thanks to the group’s consistent hard work and dedication, which has allowed their fanbase to grow to the point of selling out multiple tours.

Hongjoong, the group’s leader and captain, was officially KQ Entertainment‘s first trainee, with his seven fellow members joining him over the next year.

Mingi explained that the company had only ten employees when he joined, but now they have over 100 employees and two active groups; ATEEZ and xikers.

With Jonathan’s encouragement, the group opened up about what it took to reach their level of success, especially considering they were with their company from the ground up.

Hongjoong attributed part of it to the group’s tenacity, sharing that they didn’t hesitate to do their best. An example he gave was when Seonghwa had a broken rib during the group’s first world tour, The Expedition Tour, but he continued to perform anyway.

Seonghwa wasn’t the only member who participated in the first tour despite being injured.

San added that Yeosang had fractured his finger during a performance of “HALA HALA” on tour and attempted to reset it on stage. He continued with the performance as if nothing had happened and only shared about his injury backstage.

Yeosang recalled the moment he was backstage, saying he began to cry but had to smile and go back on stage when the song “From” began to play.

While many fans knew Yeosang injured himself during their first tour, some were learning of the injury and its extent for the first time.

ATEEZ is known for their consistently strong performances, and they continue to prove their hardworking reputation with the group’s recent promotions.
