MTV calls AOA a “South Korean girl group to put on your radar”
On November 16th, AOA shared an article by MTV titled “AOA Have Your ‘TRL’-Era Video Fix With ‘Like A Cat’ “, which praised the group, likening them to popular artists like Girls’ Generation and 2NE1.
It seems that in addition to the millions of fans who have enjoyed the “Like a Cat” music video, FNC Entertainment‘s AOA has also caught the attention of American music channel MTV as well. The article was published on MTV’s website on November 13th, two days after the release of the album and music video.
MTV complimented AOA, noting that although they are still relatively new to the industry, the girls have excelled, especially in the areas of costumes and choreography. The article also quoted Billboard‘s K-pop columnist Jeff Benjamin, who praised the group for their sexy concept. He was quoted saying: “It feels like they’re helping K-pop embrace its sexuality.”
MTV wrapped up the article by writing, “AOA [is bucking] the trend of “cuteness and innocence” that is apparently common in a lot of K-pop, without pushing the envelope too far for more conservative tastes.”
