TWICE’s Members Reflect On How They’ve Changed Since Debut
TWICE is currently on their READY TO BE world tour and recently interviewed with USA Today about their incredible global achievements and their journey from debut to now.
The group recently wrapped the North American leg of their tour, where they made history as the first female K-Pop group to play MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, selling out both venues.
With this tour, the group wanted to show a new side of themselves.
We have a live band for the first time. We have our solos for the first time when we’re very used to doing things in units.

Each member made their own observations about how far the group has come, not just with this tour but since their debut in 2015 in their interview with USA Today.

1. Jihyo
TWICE’s leader Jihyo shared that thanks to their career over the last eight years, the group has shown different sides of themselves and tried countless styles.
Ever since debut, we’ve been trying many different genres. We are able to prepare a lot of different performances and stages. We can be touching. We can be very cool. We can be cute. We can do a lot of these things.

2. Nayeon
TWICE’s Nayeon feels the weight of the group’s success, but it fuels her to want to do more.
As we continue to have more experiences, I feel that responsibility on my shoulders, I feel more ambitious.

3. Jeongyeon
Looking back at her debut, Jeongyeon can see how far the group has come as they continue to perform at bigger stadiums.
As we become the older generation of K-pop girl groups, we are able to perform in bigger and bigger stadiums. From that, we are able to recognize and see how much we have grown.

4. Momo
Momo shared that, compared to their debut, they’ve been able to be more “free” during performances thanks to feeling less nervous.
In the beginning when we had our first concert, we were more nervous. These days, we are able to move more freely out and show the fans even more.

5. Sana
Sana noted how the group members could learn their choreography more quickly, and thanks to working together for so long, they fit together more easily during performances.
Even though we don’t do as many run-throughs on our choreography practices, we are able to catch up and still have the details very fitting to each other.

6. Mina
In the interview, Mina wasn’t directly quoted about her thoughts on the group’s journey since debut, but it was noted that she felt similarly to Sana and thought the group’s performances were more in sync and were smoother.
7. Dahyun
Dahyun shared that, compared to debut, the members are now able to participate more in the creative direction of the group. From writing their own songs to selecting their concepts and wardrobe, and more.
Nowadays, we are able to participate more in discussing about the concerts, albums, even writing our own songs and even the concepts about outfits, hair and makeup.

8. Chaeyoung
Reflecting on the group’s eight-year and counting career, Chaeyoung is grateful that they’re still together and actively promoting.
As we continue to be active as a girl group, I am still able to stay very grateful and humble.

9. Tzuyu
Like Momo, maknae Tzuyu noted how she was able to perform with less anxiety and nerves as an experienced idol and has more fun on stage.
Since this is already our ninth year of being active as a girl group, I am able to have more fun on stage. I’m not as nervous anymore or anxious
