2NE1’s Sandara Park Shows Love For “The Glory” Actor Jung Sung Il Because They Were Both YG Entertainment Trainees
Sandara Park from 2NE1 recently shared a video on her Instagram showcasing her friendship with actor Jung Sung Il.
On July 15, Sandara Park and Jung Sung Il, best known for his role in Netflix‘s The Glory, filmed a challenge for her new song “FESTIVAL.” Sandara Park looked bright and youthful in her ash-blonde hair and big smile, and Jung Sung Il looked dashing in his suit.
At the end of the video, Jung Sung Il patted Sandara Park’s head, which is not something strangers can do with one another. Sandara Park’s caption revealed that the two were very close since her trainee days.

“Nice *sshole” refers to what the writer of The Glory once said about Jung Sung Il; she said that Jung Sung Il did a great job portraying a “nice *sshole” when playing his role as Ha Do Young, who was the husband of Park Yeon Jin (played by actress Lim Ji Yeon).
Despite being able to play a “nice *sshole” very well, Jung Sung Il is actually a very nice person in real life—according to Sandara Park. It was revealed that Jung Sung Il used to be a trainee at YG Entertainment as an actor while Sandara Park was training to be in 2NE1. The two acted in the 2009 K-Drama The Return of Iljimae, the same year 2NE1 debuted.
At the time, YG Entertainment stated that it was both Sandara Park and Jung Sung Il’s first time being on television, but that they were “rookies who were not rookies with a considerable amount of experience.” Although they were rookies back then, around 14 years later, the two are successful in their own ways: Sandara Park as a member of a legendary girl group and Jung Sung Il as an actor in a popular K-Drama. It appears that their friendship has continued throughout their respective careers, supporting each other’s endeavors.
Netizens and fans of both Sandara Park and Jung Sung Il commented on their collaboration challenge video appreciating their brother-sister relationship.
Sandara Park recently released her digital mini-album titled SANDARA PARK, marking her first solo album in approximately six years since her activities with 2NE1. The album includes the title track, “FESTIVAL,” which samples singer Uhm Jung Hwa‘s song of the same name.
