A Korean song from nine years ago is unexpectedly gaining popularity worldwide as a TikTok song.
In 2014, the Korean hip-hop duo Dynamic Duo released a song called “AEAO” with DJ Premier. Although it was known as a hidden gem among Korean hip-hop fans before, the song is now being used for a TikTok trend and being introduced to people worldwide.
As of July 19, “AEAO” climbed up to the top 30 on Spotify‘s Global Viral 50 chart, and its daily streaming count continues to rise steadily. It also reached 5th on Apple Music‘s Hip-Hop/Rap Top Tracks chart in Korea and ranked 4th on Shazam. Many fans left comments on Korean music platforms saying that they came to listen because “the song was trending on TikTok.”

Dynamic Duo members Choiza and Gaeko hopped on the trend and made a video using the song, too! The caption read, “‘AEAO’ is a trend on TikTok, so we gave it a try.” It was their first TikTok video on their account.

After hearing the news of the song’s resurgence, Gaeko reminisced about the song, saying that it was a “song born from a dream-like songwriting process.” Choiza also expressed his excitement.
