Fashion trends come and go rapidly, and the K-Pop industry is quick to catch the latest trends. As summer 2023 is at its peak, fashion enthusiasts and K-Pop fans are eagerly looking to their favorite idols for style inspiration.

Here are the six “hot” fashion items this summer that even K-Pop idols wear, according to fashion YouTuber AliceFunk.

1. Silver Items

Wearing bright and metallic silver items, from jewelry to bags to shoes, is a trend spreading through the fashion and K-Pop industry.

In a recent music program, LE SSERFIM‘s Chaewon and Sakura and solo artists Lee Chaeyeon and Choi Yena all wore the same silver purse from SAMO ONDOH to a music program and gained attention.

Second-generation idols, such as Girls’ Generation‘s Seohyun, also sported a silver purse.

Her fellow member Hyoyeon also wore a purse with a totally different shape but the same iconic silver color.

2. Choker Necklaces

Almost as an homage to the film Léon: The Professional, the chokers that were popular in the 90s have made a comeback.

BLACKPINK member Jennie‘s simple Chanel look for her first Met Gala was complete with a thick black choker.

IVE‘s An Yujin also wore a black choker with a big circle pendant for one of her performances.

There are so many types of chokers, and actress Han So Hee showed us how thin and layered chokers were also trendy. More specifically, chokers with a heart pendant of all sizes are also trending.

Some K-Pop idols wear chokers with a giant rose on them to give a pop and accent to their outfits. (G)I-DLE‘s Miyeon, Kwon Eunbi, and former 9MUSES member Kyungri wore different variations of flower chokers with different colors and outfits.

3. Keyrings

Adorable plush keychains are a huge trend that is riding the Y2K and “kidult” trend, which puts the words “kids” and “adult” together. Keychains are nostalgic for anyone who grew up in the 90s or 2000s, as many people attached cute plush dolls to their purses as accessories. It’s so popular that even NewJeans‘ Hyein once expressed her love for keyrings by sharing that she purchased ₩90,000 KRW (about $70.30 USD) worth of keyrings with her first paycheck.

People attach these keychains to backpacks or purses, and there is a vast range of keyrings to choose from: from the color, size, and even the plush type! Jennie carries a cute black cat keyring named PIYONGI from Comfort. A random but cute fact about the PIYONGI keyrings is that the cats’ hands have magnets so that they can hold hands with one another.

Aespa member Karina‘s choice of keyring is a giant teddy bear from VAQUERA.

While Karina carries the teddy bear with her huge bag, her fellow member Ningning opted for Marge Sherwood‘s keyring of a dog wearing a pearl necklace.

4. String Bags

Also, riding the retro wave, the string bags that 90s babies wore in elementary school have returned. As a simple and light bag, it’s the perfect accessory for the summer. String bags come out in all materials: leather, silver, denim, nylon, canvas, etc.

There are different ways to wear it as well. Karina wore it vintage with the bag loosened to as low as it could go.

BLACKPINK‘s Lisa, on the other hand, wore it in a trendy and sleek all-black fashion.

Red Velvet‘s Yeri wore it in a casual and lovely way, with pink and floral accents, perfect for a vacation look.

5. Ribbons

From outfits to hair to accessories, ribbons have made a comeback in the fashion world. Barbiecore and balletcore fashion trends are trending, which makes it the perfect time to wear ribbons. Jennie is especially known for rocking the ribbon trend, as she is often seen with balletcore outfits for her tour and hairstyles with ribbons braided with her hair.

Other K-Pop idols, such as OH MY GIRL‘s Mimi, rocked this trend with little ribbons on the braids framing her face.

Even actress Ha Ji Won wore braids with ribbons, showing that this trend is not only in K-Pop but everywhere.

Ribbons add a sweet and lovely look to any outfit; if not added to hairstyles, they can be added to outfits. Dresses with little ribbon details can make an outfit look trendier.

6. Big Buckle Belts

In the 2000s, the “it” girls of the generation, such as Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Paris Hilton, rocked low-rise jeans with big buckle belts.

This trend is back, and K-Pop idols are often seen wearing belts with baggy jeans. LE SSERAFIM members Eunchae and Kazuha wore Diesel belts with a bold logo to add a pop of silver color to their outfits.

NewJeans’ Danielle wore the Diesel buckle belt, too.

And instead of baggy pants, Hyoyeon styled it with a Miu Miu skirt.

From vibrant silver accents and adorable plush accessories to lovely ribbons and bulky belts, these hottest fashion items have become the go-to choices for fashionistas and K-Pop idols.
