Singer Found Guilty Of Sexually Assaulting Employee

A celebrity who reportedly has succeeded as a businessman received a fine for sexually assaulting his employee.
On August 2, JoongAng Ilbo reported that the celebrity was found guilty of sexual assault but was only ordered to pay a fine of ₩3.00 million KRW (about $2,330 USD). It’s also reported that the judge did not order for the celebrity’s identity to be revealed, instead ordering the celebrity to 40 hours of sexual education.
According to reports, the celebrity debuted in 2000 as a singer and has also worked as a news reporter. It’s reported that the former singer has since become a successful businessman who raked in revenues of ₩60.0 billion KRW (about $46.6 million USD) last year alone.
The report states that the crime took place in 2019 at an underground karaoke room. According to court documents, the celebrity is said to have forced an employee to sit next to him and started holding their hands and forcibly hugged them. When the employee refused the celebrity’s advances, he then is stated to have punched the employee and grabbed their waist.
The celebrity reportedly denied all charges but deposited ₩10.0 million KRW (about $7,760 USD) to the employee’s account, which the judge took into consideration during sentencing.
