“JYP Is In Need Of New Young Creative Minds” — Netizens React To “Disappointing” Girl Group Song Performances On MelOn

“They need to hire new people to choose title tracks for their girl groups because they have been having a lot of misses.”

Recently, netizens have been voicing some concern over the future of multiple JYP Entertainment girl groups due to their “disappointing” performance on the MelOn music charts.

This comes in the midst of mixed reactions to the most recent title songs released by ITZY and NMIXX, which many fans found underwhelming at best and just plain bad at worst.

ITZY’s lead single, “CAKE”, is the latest to be released, and though people don’t deny the incredible talent of the members, many feel like their abilities are being wasted on bad songs.

In terms of the MelOn chart, ITZY peaked at #85 but were already out of the chart by the next day.

Similarly, earlier this year, TWICE fans were also surprised to see that their song “Set Me Free” best rank was #83, and they, too, were out of the chart within a day.

And as for NMIXX, their latest lead single, “Party O’Clock”, didn’t even enter the weekly chart, and their top ranking was at #183.

The topic of these three girl groups’ performances on the MelOn chart became the subject of a post on an online forum, where netizens shared their opinions on what JYP Entertainment is doing wrong. Many also came to TWICE’s defense, given that they’re the most senior group of the three.

Do you think JYP Entertainment needs some changes to keep up with the times? Or was this just a mediocre comeback era?
