“Boys Planet” Project Group Changes Its Name After Discovering NSFW Meaning But Some Aren’t Impressed With The New One
Boys Planet has been the most watched this year regarding survival programs. Fans watched as just over one hundred contestants were whittled down to the top nine, who debuted as ZEROBASEONE.
Throughout the program, viewers got attached to many of the trainees who would be eliminated, resulting in some heartbreak. Some trainees had activities to return to, while many returned to being trainees under their respective companies or had their groups remain inactive.
Fans rejoiced when several of WAKEONE‘s trainees, including Haruto, Anthonny, and Park Minseok left the company, seeing it as a step closer to actually debuting.
On August 1, many netizens were excited to hear that seven competitors would debut under Jellyfish Entertainment as a project group.
While many were excited about the line-up — consisting of Mun Junghyun, Park Jihoo, Park Hanbin, Yoo Seungeon, Lee Jeonghyeon, Ji Yunseo, and Ciipher‘s Keita — others couldn’t help but point out concerns, like the company’s reputation.

Another point of concern was the group’s announced name, BLIT. In addition to it being easily changed into something NSFW, an “official unofficial” meaning was already being discussed among netizens.

However, the company took those concerns to heart and recently announced a name change!
On August 7, it was announced the group underwent a name change from BLIT to EVNNE after a “hidden negative meaning” was discovered.
“On August 7, the new boy group that was announced by Jellyfish Entertainment to debut in the second half of the year has undergone a sudden name change from ‘BLIT’ to ‘EVNNE’ and is accelerating their preparations for a strong debut.
The previously announced official team name ‘BLIT’ was found to carry a hidden negative meaning, raising concerns that it might lead to misunderstandings in the future. In response to this, the decision was made to change the group’s name.”

EVNNE is short for EVENing’s Newest Etoiles, with etoiles being French for stars. While this has a decisively better meaning than the previous name’s unofficial ones, some fans are still not impressed.
