Former Cosmic Girls Member Cheng Xiao And Actor Tony Leung Deny Affair Rumors
Recently, Cheng Xiao, the 25-year-old former Cosmic Girls member, has been the subject of rumors suggesting an extramarital affair with acclaimed 61-year-old actor Tony Leung.
The origins of these rumors can be traced back to a shared shopping outing last year between Leung and Cheng.
Media speculation took hold, suggesting not only a romantic relationship but also claims of Tony Leung purchasing a home in Japan for Cheng Xiao. More recent allegations even suggested the birth of a child from their supposed liaison.
But in an age where fake news often outpaces the truth, Cheng Xiao’s agency was swift to shut down these allegations.
In response to the growing rumors, the agency issued a statement dismissing the reports. They also indicated preparations for legal actions against individuals and organizations responsible for spreading these unfounded claims.
Such rumors are not even worth paying any attention to.

Carina Lau, Tony Leung’s wife, took a more nuanced approach to address the issue. Rather than issuing an outright statement, the actress chose to post regular photos on her social media, depicting an unaffected daily life and indirectly conveying her disregard for the rumors concerning her husband.
Meanwhile, Leung’s representatives have also strongly denied the rumors, calling them “nonsensical and absurd.”
Leung and Lau’s romance is an iconic story within the entertainment industry. Both actors rose to fame in the 1980s, during the lead-up to Hong Kong cinema’s golden age. Their paths first crossed on the set of The Replica in 1984.
Although they met during the film’s production, it wasn’t until five years later, in 1989, that they began their romantic relationship. Their love story is unique, especially by local celebrity standards. The couple chose to remain unmarried for nearly two decades.
It was only in 2008 that they decided to solidify their commitment to one another, exchanging vows in an intimate ceremony set against the picturesque backdrop of Bhutan.
Leung, whose illustrious career began with the film Mad, Mad 83 in 1983, has since garnered international acclaim for his roles in classics like Chungking Express, In The Mood For Love, Infernal Affairs, as well as his latest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe through Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The actor, having recently appeared in the music video “Cool with You” by K-Pop sensation NewJeans, continues to be a relevant and influential figure in the industry.
On the other hand, Cheng Xiao’s star beginnings go back to her time as a member of popular Starship Entertainment girl group Cosmic Girls. She took a hiatus from her activities in South Korea in 2018 due to her demanding schedule in China. Later, in March of this year, she officially parted ways with the group.
