Fact Check: Did (G)I-DLE’s Shuhua Indirectly Mention Former Member Soojin?
(G)I-DLE‘s Shuhua has never been afraid to speak her mind, but did she actually indirectly reference former member Soojin in a video?
Recently, (G)I-DLE released a new video on their YouTube channel, where Shuhua took on a very different role as she interviewed members of the group.
After the members were introduced, Shuhua had netizens (and even the members shook) when she explained, “One member is missing, huh?”
After making the comment, the members all seemed shocked, and Miyeon had to break character when the words came out of Shuhua’s mouth. Soyeon even continued the narrative by joking, “Something bad happened to her.”
When the video was shared online, it wasn’t surprising that many netizens thought that the young idol was referring to the group’s former member Soojin, who sadly left the group in 2021 after bullying allegations, which later proved false.
Yet, the show quickly clarified what was going on after explaining that the member missing was actually Shuhua because the idol was playing her role as an MC rather than an idol in the video.
When the video was posted, it immediately caught the attention of netizens as many thought it was referring to Soojin.

Of course, netizens knew immediately that Shuhua was probably referring to herself, as she wasn’t on the show as part of the group but as the MC.
Yet, while both the video and many netizens clarified that Shuhua was probably speaking about herself, as she was in an MC role, others thought maybe it was a quick save.
In particular, others joked that with Shuhua’s IDGAF attitude and also how the members reacted, maybe the idol meant it as a reference, but the production tried to save it. One even thought that Shuhua was always referencing herself, but the members worried, especially if they didn’t know what she was going to say.
While it might be safe to assume Shuhua wasn’t referencing Soojin, the clip gained a lot of attention online, especially as it was posted out of context without the rest of the clip. Yet, many hope it won’t be long before Soojin returns to the industry and is seen interacting with the members again.
