Even YOASOBI Loves Them — Here’s How Iconic NewJeans Was At “Summer Sonic 2023”
Girl group NewJeans recently performed at the Summer Sonic 2023 music festival in Tokyo. The girls were not headliners, but caused tickets to sell out as soon as they were revealed in the lineup.
They performed their hearts out, entertaining the audience with their brand of cute charisma.

It was a huge feat for the girls, as they were invited to perform on the main stage, the marine stage. The turnout was higher than expected, and it was said that security had to restrict entry to the festival grounds during their set.
New jeans appeared this biggest stage earlier today in summer sonic Tokyo.

As the music festival allows free and easy entry into the grounds as long as you have a pass, most enter the grounds only when they want to watch a particular performance. NewJeans performed during the hottest hour, around noon. Despite the sweltering heat, many turned up to watch.
Not a surprise, as “Ditto” is the highest charting K-Pop song from the 4th generation.
A famed music critic in Japan even commented on NewJeans’ performance.
NewJeans is so impressive. The arena area and stands were all filled with people. They even restricted people’s entry to the arena at the Marine Stage, during their slot. I think that it’s totally possible that NewJeans will become the headliners at the Summer Sonic Music Festival in a few years. It also occurred to me that this time could be a stepping stone to spread the seeds for that.

Even Japanese singer YOASOBI posted a picture of NewJeans’ set with the caption, “the best!”
As a rookie girl group only a year into their career, the girls have already hit peaks that others can only dream of. With many years ahead of them, there’s no telling how far they’ll go!
