The Billboard Global charts, introduced in September 2020, provide a comprehensive view of global popularity based on streaming and sales from over 200 territories. The metrics, which are collated by Luminate, combine data from subscription and ad-supported tiers from various music services alongside digital download sales.
“SEVEN” made a staggering debut, claiming the top spot on the daily Global Spotify Chart with nearly 16 million streams. This record-shattering performance marked the highest opening-day streams for a male artist and collaboration in 2023, alongside being the most significant debut that year. Jungkook further solidified his global influence by being the first K-pop artist to soar to number one on the U.S. Spotify chart and simultaneously became the first Korean soloist to debut atop the global chart.
The single’s momentum didn’t stop there. In Japan, just three days after its release, “SEVEN” climbed to number two on the Billboard Japan Hot 100. Notably, it was the most downloaded song of its release week, achieving double the sales of its closest competitor. By its second week, it maintained its high position, revealing its sustained appeal in the Japanese market.
Over in the UK, Jungkook rewrote history by earning the top debut spot for a solo Korean artist on the UK Singles Chart. He went on to outdo the record previously set by fellow BTS member Jimin and matched BTS’s historic high with tracks like “Dynamite,” “Butter,” and “My Universe.”

According to Luminate’s data, “SEVEN” garnered an astounding 5.11 million on-demand streams and over 34,000 digital copies on its release day in the United States. Within just four days, the single accumulated over 13.7 million streams and sold an additional 32,000 digital copies.
Marking yet another milestone, “SEVEN” debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making Jungkook the second BTS member after Jimin to achieve this feat. The single also marked new peaks for artists involved, like Latto, Watt, Cirkut, Bellion, and Thomas in various capacities.
However, the pinnacle of “SEVEN”‘s success lies in its historic dominance of the Billboard Global charts. With 269,000 downloads and 217.1 million streams worldwide within its first week, “SEVEN” surpassed records set by globally acclaimed artists, making Jungkook the first BTS member to reach the summit of the global chart as a soloist. As the track continued its reign on the charts for subsequent weeks, it not only affirmed Jungkook’s global impact but also showcased the single’s enduring appeal.
