While BTS‘s V has been a successful K-Pop idol for years now, and it’s hard to imagine him being anything but a musician… He once was just a kid with a dream.

Promoting his solo debut album Layover, V guested on You Quiz On the Block. Host Yoo Jae Suk asked him if he had always dreamed of being a celebrity since he was young.

V confessed that he began dreaming of it in middle school, thanks to SHINee and Rain. They inspired him to pursue his current career.

V: For me… Since middle school.

Yoo Jae Suk: Ahh, really?

V: There was SHINee-sunbaenim!

Jo Se Ho: Ah, from watching them?

V: Yes! And then Rain-sunbaenim. Watching them, I really started to dream…

Now, V is not only a successful idol like his idols but also friends with them! SHINee once inspired V, and now they’re close friends.
