“I Hope HYBE Sends SM An Invoice” — Netizens React To ENHYPEN’s Bodyguards Keeping NCT Fans In Line At The Airport
There is a lot of controversy, and understandably so, over the “culture” surrounding K-Pop fans trying to interact with and get pictures of their favorite idols at the airport. These kinds of situations can easily become chaotic and even dangerous when fans get too close and don’t respect an idol’s personal space, especially when there isn’t proper security involved.
There have been countless instances of idols being mobbed at the airport, some to more frightening and dangerous degrees than others. Yet this has become upsettingly normalized for a lot of the so-called “fans” that participate in this behavior, which has led to some labels needing to increase their security in order to keep their idols safe.
Recently, the bodyguards in charge of protecting ENHYPEN‘s members went to intense measures to make sure the idols stayed safe, as can be seen in this clip.

Fans are praising their actions and determination to do their job well, while others are demanding that something be done in order to prevent this sort of thing from happening in the first place.
Airports need to start criminally penalizing fansites, stalkers and overzealous fans who show up at airports because none of this is okay. https://t.co/aaZZz8WiKP

no matter how much kpop stans want to convince themself that stalking and crowding idols at the airports is part of “kpop culture” none of this behavior is normal and y’all finally need to stop consuming airport “content”… https://t.co/oiiet2xiFw

sorry but it baffles me how in the world k-fans can bitch about security being “too tough” when there have been so many instances of idols getting pushed, having their clothes pulled, and having full on panic attacks at airports bc idiots refuse to respect their personal space https://t.co/7zm1N3a15P

And ppl will still say this is just kpop culture despite the the actual danger not just for the idols but for the very regular people who are just trying to catch their flights this is just insanity https://t.co/wvles6b7iS

This is not something to be normalized. If you have even a bit of love of respect and love for the people you stan stop engaging with airport culture. You cannot justify getting couple of pictures when they have to be mobbed like this for them. https://t.co/sCcmU1ODuc

But it turns out it wasn’t just ENHYPEN fans that the bodyguards were holding back. According to the account of an NCT fan at the airport during this chaos, members Jaemin, Jeno, and Jisung were taking the same flight as ENHYPEN, resulting in NCTzens being there too. And therefore, the bodyguards were protecting NCT as well, even though that wasn’t what they were hired for!

Caption: “Ha, this is ridiculous. NCT members and ENHYPEN were on the same flight, and NCTzens were quietly filming NCT, but HYBE’s bodyguards were making an issue. We told them we were NCT fans and not ENHYPEN fans, and they told us not to film NCT either.”
In a forum post on the topic, most people are on the side of the bodyguards and supporting their actions in protecting both ENHYPEN and NCT. Some are even saying that HYBE Labels should send a bill to SM Entertainment for the protection!
Though it seems like no one was hurt in this instance, it would be nice to see something done to prevent fans mobbing idols at airports in the first place.
