It seems like no matter what they do, the members make an impact and have not only released some hit songs that have taken over the world…

But have showcased their influence with brand deals and become ambassadors for some of the biggest designer labels, representing them at events worldwide.

Yet, it seems like a recent project has received mixed reviews from Korean netizens.

Recently, along with all their projects, netizens couldn’t hide their shock when it was announced that NewJeans would be singing the theme song for the “2023 League of Legends World Championship.” The song called “GODS” was released on October 4.

Along with the song, an animation video was released.

When the video was posted, netizens in the comments seemed obsessed with the song and how the members’ voices perfectly worked with the song’s animation.

Yet, while many fans loved the song and the members, some couldn’t help but feel disappointed, sharing that it didn’t allow the group to shine and wasn’t suited to their vocal abilities.

  • I’m so tired…I play LoL, and the LoL World Cup song is such a bummer. I don’t have anything against NewJeans, but personally, I don’t think it fits with them.
  • I think the beat made the song, but the vocals are lacking. I feel like any other artist could have done this much. I’m not a girl group fan. Just listen to the best World Cup song.
  • Even before the release of the song, there was much talk about it being different from NewJeans’ style, but personally, I think they did pretty well and it’s nice to see something different.
  • Yeah, it didn’t enter the charts…the last OST didn’t make it on the chart either…seems like all the songs they release these days are flopping…

While it seems that netizens continue to praise NewJeans, it seems like many aren’t impressed with the project and think that it might not be suited to the members.
