Fourth-Generation Idol Surprises Fans By Joining A Sports Team’s Cheerleading Squad

Fans are excited to see her on the squad!

With sports like American football, many of the associated cheerleading squads have established almost as a presence. For example, the Dallas Cowboys‘ cheerleaders even had their own television program.

In Korea, more professional sports are likely to have cheerleading squads, like basketball and baseball teams. The cheerleaders often grow their fanbases, leading to popularity enough to earn them magazine covers, like in the case of Doosan Bears Seo Hyun Sook.

Some cheerleaders are even treated like idols, with some fans recording fan cams of their favorites performing, just like idol fans.

Now, a cheerleader won’t just have idol-like popularity because she is one!

In 2018, the girl group NATURE debuted, sporting a lineup of eight members, though there were line-up changes before and after their debut.

Member Uchae is one of several to have promoted continuously with the group, who are still active despite not making a comeback in nearly a year.

During the hiatus, Uchae has taken on a new challenge she is perfectly suited for — cheerleading. Uchae is listed on the Daejeon Samsung Fire Bluefangs volleyball team’s website as a 2023/2024 squad member under her real name.

Often, inactive and not as well-known groups will take up part-time jobs to support themselves while money is not coming in from idol activities.

Uchae’s new position seems to be an impressive and perfect fit, allowing her to perform among professionals while being available for any NATURE promotions!

Though a little surprised, fans are happy for the idol and plan on supporting her newest endeavor!
